I'd guess that the FreeBSD community could muster several more
people (me included) to help with the port.

I can't imagine that given the Solaris and Linux head start that
there is a lot of work to do.

I'm willing to put up a mirror site if the "official" site is too
busy.

I've put out a feeler to the FreeBSD-stable mailing list.  I'll bet
you get more help than you can organize.
