No, it has worked that way from NT-4 to XP. It is like the comments about cylinder 1024, which ceased to be a problem several releases ago (at least). It is easier if FreeBSD is located on the same drive as your boot because you only have to copy /boot/boot1 to c:/bootsect.bsd and then add that to your boot.ini.
