You don't need an installation floppy, since the regular kernel is
affected as well.  If your tape is going to stream _without_ a
previous read of the tape, or `mt blocksize 512', the patch did what
it's supposed to do.  I assume you should also see a difference in
that `mt status' reports the blocksize to be 512 if you've got a
QIC-150 cartridge in the drive, where i'm pretty sure it reported 0 by
now.
