Hi,

I recently noticed that one cannot specify the root device when
booting the FreeBSD 3.4-RELEASE kernel.

Yes, I tried the `-a' option from both the 2nd & 3rd stage boot
loaders.  And yes, similarly, the `-v' option worked ok.
