Certainly for FireFox (0.9 and later) you can install stuff centrally with:

	-install-global-extension nameofext.xpi

A quick Google suggests that this is fully supported by Thunderbird (0.7 and
later) too.  I've not tried as I've not got any extensions that I use in TB,
so I can't say for certain.
