Hi Tony,

You should use ssh as a replacement for telnet.  From Unix machines you can
use the command line ssh program to connect to your machine.  Both ssh and
sshd ship with FreeBSD.

For windows machines an excellent client program to use is PuTTY, it is
free and supports telnet, ssh1 and ssh2 protocols.  It can be downloaded at
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/
