I'm assuming eggdrop and pine are running on the machine that's not
connected to the cable modem.
Have you followed all the instructions in the natd man page?
Does pinging work?
Try using tcpdump (you may need to rebuild your kernel with bpfilter) and
see what traffic is actually going in/out through the cable modem.
