the acronyms say it all:

SSH = Secure SHell

SSL = Secure Socket Layer

So SSH is a secure way of making remote shell connections. A client/server
suite.

SSL is a protocol to realize secure connections. That connection could be
any TCP/IP connection.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
