Dear Justin,

I've followed your advise and disabled the eisa from the kernel (and why 
it's still there in the GENERIC...). The problem vanished and the box is 
working happily on scsi320 seagate drives and aic7902 with the 
out-of-box freebsd 4.9 ahd drivers.
