Subject: When will FreeBSD get gcc 2.8.1 as default?

I've heard that soon after 3.0-RELEASE, there are plans to upgrade
FreeBSD to use gcc 2.8.1 as the default.
Any timeframe on when that will occur?

(I'm currently using Slackware Linux because the C++ compiler (egcs) is better
, but it would be nice to use gcc-2.8.1 or egcs in FreeBSD by default)

Please reply by email to dcarmich@mcs.com.

Thank you.
