Subject:   how to deal with .deb files or linux libstdc++.so.2.8?

I need a copy of libstdc++.so.2.8, among others, from a linux system.

I've acquired libstdc++2.8_2.90.29-0.6.deb but my poor FreeBSD
system does not know what to with it.

Basically, what is the correct method to go about getting particular
linux libs?
