I want to have an easy way to organize my distfiles, especially when I want to selectively take them to some location disconnected from Internet or having too slow Internet connection to download distfiles. There are separate directories for KDE, gnome and gnome2, heck, there are directories for ruby, python and ezm3. Isn't it natural to have a directory for perl5? It is, I suppose. -gvs
