One last shameless punt: Chapter 2 of the 4.4BSD book is an overview
of the book, but also happens to make an EXCELLENT introduction to how
processes, IO, filesystems, networking, memory and such work in BSD.

The original intention was to flag things that have changed in FreeBSD,
but the entire thing is still applicable (except that FreeBSD doesn't
have working LFS).

It's an excellent thing to point people at when they have trouble
understanding Unix basics (e.g. "What're zombies and inodes?").

Ciao,
Sheldon.
