FYI
I've just reinstalled mtools,
	mformat a:
no longer worked.
I extended my /usr/local/etc/mtools.conf to become
	drive a:
        	file="/dev/fd0" exclusive
        	tracks=80 heads=2 sectors=18
it now works again, but
	man 5 mtools
says
              If no geometry information is supplied in the con-
              figuration file, no initial configuration is done.
              On Linux, this is not really needed either, as the
              configurable devices are able to autodetect the
              disk type accurately enough (for most common for-
              mats) to read the boot sector.

If this breakage/non sensing is seen by others,
I suggest make install be extended to append a
	tracks=80 heads=2 sectors=18

PS I'm also seeing new errors when accesing 720K flops on a 1.4 drive,
I'm running a system installed from world ~2 weeks ago.
(Mtools rebuilt with today's current)
