Yes, I've got Xorg 6.8.2 working on 5.4-STABLE.

This might give you some hints:
capuzzo@asator ~ $ grep pcidata /var/log/Xorg.0.log
(II) LoadModule: "pcidata"
(II) Loading /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/libpcidata.a
(II) Module pcidata: vendor="X.Org Foundation"
