Well, if we *could* lay the groundwork for a newer stat() routine in time for 6.0, then I'd really like to see that. The first time I read this message I thought you were saying "it IS too late...", which would have been understandable. There are a number of other fields in 'struct stat' that people have wanted to see expanded.
