I just received my 2.1 CD yesterday, and decided to go ahead and upgrade my home machine. The upgrade itself went without a hitch (great job, Jordan). I did, however, experience a problem when I tried to rebuild my kernel. Apparently, the file "/usr/src/sys/i386/isa/matcd/matcd.h" should no longer be there, and it causes problems (matcd.c wouldn't compile) if it is there. I tracked that down when I got to work this morning -- it was the only file in that directory that apparently hadn't been touched during the upgrade. I dialed in to my home machine, moved matcd.h out of the way, and restarted the make; it finished with no complaints. I'm not going to try installing the new kernel until I get home, tho... Does anyone know of any other "leftovers" that could cause problems like that? Would I be better off rm-ing /usr/src and re-extracting the sources? PS Jordan -- It seems to me I've heard rumors that you're completely re-vamping the install/upgrade process. If you want some help (on the upgrade part, anyhow -- that could be extremely useful around here), I've got a machine available at work that we could load/reload as often as necessary.
