    If Abiword 2.0 is maximized, then it cannot be resized.
>How-To-Repeat:
    1) Open Abiword
    2) Click on the upper right hand maximization button.
    3) Enter some text and save the document.
    4) Close Abiword
    5) Now reopen Abiword and you will find it is not possible to resize it.

 I checked with the Abiword developers and they say this problem does not 
occur in Linux.
