libwmf-0.2.8.4 requires LDFLAGS and LD_LIBRARY_PATH set to /usr/X11R6/lib and CFLAGS set to /usr/X11R6/include. If not set that way, it fails to build. Upleasant, because, for example, gimp requires libwmf-0.2.8.4 an d therefore fails to build too.

try run make install without CFLAGS and LDFLAGS set in make.conf
