Hi,

I have (i think) now managed to get the basic system how I like it. =
Cheers for all of your help.

Since that is done, I have started installing some proper server apps, =
the one I am doing at the moment is Postfix mail server.

What I would like to ask, is there a way of suppressing program output =
so that it does not show up on boot up. =20

For example, when the boot process starts up it gets to the rc.d script =
for postfix and print out the following:-

postfix/postfix-script: starting the postfix mail system.

This is also duplicated in the logs. Is there a way that this can be =
sent somewhere else, such as /dev/null. I have tried basic ways, such =
as using redirection " > /dev/null" but that does not do anything.

Cheers in advance for any help

Lee.
