I certainly don't want to quash anyone's desire to add documentation
(heaven forbid!), but I think I've already documented what you're
talking about in the handbook.

Yeah, I think that's in there already; see
http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/handbook.html ... once there, scroll
down and click on section 7.6, Advanced Printer Setup.  Then, click on
7.6.3.2, Printers with Networked Data Stream Interfaces.
