Several people asked, so I'll post the results. Thanks to Bill Paul for pointing me the direction I needed on this, BTW. Yes, the chip works. In order to do so you have to edit the device id for the nm2200 entry (MagicMedia 256AV) to match the 256ZX's id. I've already deleted the XFree source tree or I'd post what I did. A more effective solution would be to add a 2300 entry, treat it like a 2200, and submit the diffs to the xfree86 project, but I'm not a programmer, so I cheated. Here are the relevant portions of pciconf -l: vga0@pci1:0:0: class=0x030000 card=0x008b1028 chip=0x000610c8 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 none0@pci1:0:1: class=0x040100 card=0x008b1028 chip=0x800610c8 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00 The 2200 device id was changed from 0x0005 to 0x0006.
