Ok,  I've done the following ...

    setenv DISPLAY  :0

Then when I attempt to run fvwm I get ....

   TRANS(SocketUNIXConnect) () can't connect: errno=2

6 times ... then

   fvwm: can't open display :0

In the manual, "Installing and running FreeBSD" on page 97 it says you 
can start it by entering   "/usr/X11/bin/fvwm &.  Is that correct?
