Saddam's a very popular leader in Iraq. His people think he does a good job
of standing up to US oppression.

The people don't want him to step down, it's the US that wants that and
about the only support they have in that view is the UK. All the other
allies from the Gulf war gave up supporting the US' crusade against Saddam
a long time ago.
