FreeBSD wsip68-15-48-50.ri.ri.cox.net 4.6-RELEASE FreeBSD 4.6-RELEASE #0: Tue Jun 11 06:14:12 GMT 2002 murray@builder.freebsdmall.com:/usr/src/sys/compile/GENERIC i386

>Description:
After updating from 4.5 to 4.6, and on fresh installs (tried a few different times), system runs fine till you reboot, then bootloader gives 'cannot load kernel or kernel.old', on further inspection, it is named as kernel.GENERIC
>How-To-Repeat:
i have no idea how to repeat it, except on my machine, just do a default install with only User distro selected.
>Fix:
renaming it back to 'kernel', or modifying /boot/defaults/loader.conf - from 'kernel="/kernel"' to 'kernel="/kernel.GENERIC"' seems to fix it
