I think the network battle has been fought and won by IP, but IBM does not
believe that nor have they given up. They want to move TR to 100Mb and 1Gb
speeds. It does not matter if it is the most expensive technology in the
universe, IBM shops will buy the technology (I am not being totally derogatory
to those that buy anything Blue, there are cases where the cost of change is
perceived to higher than the cost of the technology). I know of a couple people
that would like to run BSD, but must run Linux because they are stuck on a
TR segment. If IBM does raise the speeds of TR, there will be real pressure
for FreeBSD TR support.
