All I did - ran portupgrade -f chromium with the current ports tree. 
/etc/make.conf has option defaults:

OPTIONS_UNSET= DOCS HTMLDOCS HELP PORTDOCS APIDOCS RDOC MANPAGES 
EXAMPLES PORTEXAMPLES NLS KERBEROS TESTS DEBUG FASTDEBUG DOXYGEN JAVA 
JAVAHELP
OPTIONS_SET=   PULSEAUDIO SOUND WEBRTC IPV6 THREADED_RESOLVER THREADS 
OPENGL DJVU OPTIMIZED_CFLAGS SIMD MMX SSE CUPS GDB

Chromium used to build fine before under this procedure.
