FreeBSD 5.0 will be better, but 4.7 is more stable. :-) You need to balance between stability and power... I use -CURRENT on my iPaq C700/256Mb RAM/10Gb/i815, and 4.7-STABLE on my Internet gateway server, which is Compaq DeskPro C600/128Mb RAM/10Gb/i815. The -CURRENT (scheduled for 5.0-RELEASE next week) is pretty stable now, but it was terrible some time ago, especially before gcc-3.2.1 import... If you need to run something important, then use 4.7-STABLE... I think that it'll be better to wait for 5.1-RELEASE... But I plan to go to 5.0 after release on my Internet gateway, because it's stability isn't so necessary... :-) But our Radio-ethernet routers will stay -STABLE (sometimes even 3.3... :-) ) Sincerely, Maxim M.
