If you run out of inodes even if you have loads of disk space left you cannot add any more files you can just enlarge old ones. Taking the envelope analogy, you can stuff more pages in your existing envelopes but have no spare envelopes to create any new stuff. The upshot of which means it sounds as if your disk is badly partitioned, since it is a fresh installation it is probably "/usr" that is full but the error message should tell you which file system is out of inodes. Re label the disk and make the problem filesystem bigger. As to your windows problem, I am happily running 2000 Professional, FreeBSD and Mandrake Linux from a single 30G disk ( and remember that 1G is 1000M so your 650M CD will easily fit on a 20G disk). The problem could be with the BIOS although others may be able to comment better than I I just know that some older BIOS' can only load boot straps from the first 1024 cylinders. If this is your problem you could split your 2000 installation into a minimal bootable area at the start of the disk and a second larger file system after your BSD. That would be some awesome compression... 30:1 by my calculations, so i'm sure somethings wrong. i'm going to try to install 4.2 here in a bit. i'm kind of bummed. i paid 50$ for the BSD and 0$ for
