I tested on another machine where i installed the package using pkg
install samba41 and i got the same error.

Mar 26 12:19:37 beasty smbd[15822]: [2014/03/26 12:19:37.426016,  0,
pid=15822, effective(0, 10004), real(0, 0)]
../source3/smbd/reply.c:3079(fake_sendfile)
Mar 26 12:19:37 beasty smbd[15822]: [2014/03/26 12:19:37.426236,  0,
pid=15822, effective(0, 10004), real(0, 0)]
../source3/smbd/smb2_read.c:235(smb2_sendfile_send_data)
Mar 26 12:19:37 beasty smbd[15822]:   smb2_sendfile_send_data:
fake_sendfile failed for file
ISO/FreeBSD-10.0-RELEASE-amd64-memstick.img (Socket is not connected).
Terminating

Another thing i see in log.nmbd is the following

[2014/03/26 09:02:24,  2]
../source3/nmbd/nmbd_lmhosts.c:43(load_lmhosts_file)
   load_lmhosts_file: Can't open lmhosts file /usr/local/etc/lmhosts.
Error was No such file or directory

If i do # touch /usr/local/etc/lmhosts then the error disapears.

regards
Johan
