There is an ISO image of the development version of FreeBSD. The URL is
ftp://current.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ISO/i386/4.0-19990705-CURRENT. I
have been using it on three different workstations and have had absolutely
no problems. Its as stable as any Linux Distro ;)
