Hello,

You could try and update your version of FreeBSD :

I'm using here a more recent version of -Stable :
FreeBSD 4.7-STABLE #0: Sun Nov 24 15:41:13 CET 2002
    XXX@YYY:/usr/src/sys/compile/diversion
....
and the CMI chip is correctly detected :
pcm0: <CMedia CMI8738> port 0xd800-0xd8ff irq 10 at device 5.0 on pci0

it works very well : I'm at the very moment listening to mp3's
