Check Your wiring, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 20 were the magic pins but
what was the order ? First two together and last three together ?

That kind of cable works for me as a serial console
plus normal terminal in multiuser, configured by
console="comconsole" in /boot/loader.conf.local and
ttyd0 "/usr/libexec/getty std.9600" hp2392 on secure in /etc/ttys
