TargetNet.com Inc
Location: Toronto, ON

Description: This person will be responsible for the day-to-day network
health in both our office and data center’s. The data center environment is
primarily FreeBSD, with some commercial UNIX (Solaris, HP) a possibility in
the future. This person must be well versed and capable in operations in a
24/7 networked UNIX operating environment, and will work closely with our
Senior Network Engineer in implementing and maintaining our back-end UNIX
servers.

In addition, this person will be responsible for the day-to-day trouble
shooting of office PC’s and the office networking environment. Estimated
responsibility breakdown would 70% back-end administration, 15% office
network administration, 15% office PC trouble shooting.

TargetNet.com Inc has the goal of becoming a leader in rich-media
advertising. TargetNet's Adpulse created internet history in August 1999
when it ran the first successful transactional advertising campaign where
consumers were able to purchase books entirely within an advertising banner
without ever having to the host website. TargetNet also owns FocusIN, an
established leader in managing advertising services for small to
medium-sized websites around the world.

TargetNet currently serves over 0.5 billion ads every month, so our
engineers understand reliability and the architectures that make it
possible. TargetNet ads are served from redundant servers hosted on separate
Internet backbones to avoid any single point of failure. Should any of the
servers fail, the load is immediately redistributed between the remaining
servers. But failure is unlikely, because the servers are themselves
redundant, with hot-swappable modules to enable them to be maintained and
updated without taking them offline. In addition, their modular design
ensures that the system can be scaled easily - its capacity can be increased
simply by adding more servers. This means that the system will never be
overloaded, and will continue to grow to meet advertisers' needs. The
hosters are all tier-one ISPs (AT&T, UUNET and Above-Net) to maximize the
performance of the servers. Each site has 24x7 Internet access,
uninterruptable power supplies and back-up diesel generators. Each center
has multiple redundant high-speed Internet links that are constantly
monitored and kept within 66% of their capacity to ensure lightning-fast
response times. TargetNet is built on the FreeBSD operating system, one of
the most stable available, and one trusted by industry giants such as Yahoo!
and Hotmail.com. The servers use the industry-standard Apache web server
software together with proprietary technology for maximum performance.
AdPulse's experience from its sister company has enabled it to build an
extraordinarily robust system that can meet and keep pace with your needs.
