I've tried to install several ports that rely on gnu.org over the past
several days, and the first THREE attempts timeout. Here's one
example:

=> Attempting to fetch from http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/.
fetch: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-5.2.1.tar.bz2:
Operation timed out

=> Attempting to fetch from ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/.
fetch: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-5.2.1.tar.bz2:
Operation timed out

=> Attempting to fetch from http://ftp.lug.udel.edu/pub/gnu/coreutils/.
fetch:
http://ftp.lug.udel.edu/pub/gnu/coreutils/coreutils-5.2.1.tar.bz2:
Operation timed out

=> Attempting to fetch from http://gnu.mirror.mcgill.ca/coreutils/.

Is there a way I can tell 'make' to (at least temporarily) not even try
to connect to the first 3?
