Sorry to hear that you are disappointed ...

} cd0(ncr0:6:0): phase change 6-2 6@273c0 resid=5.

The CHINON rejects the synch. transfer
negotiation request.

} cd0(ncr0:6:0): asynchronous.
} cd0(ncr0:6:0): unit attention
} cd0: cd present.[400000 x 2048 byte records]

Seems to work ...

The CHINON is a cheap drive, and I had some problem
(and it required some help from a 535 owner who tried
the patches I sent) to get it working at all.

But I'm afraid, I don't quite understand your message.

- Does 2.1R fail to complete the boot sequence ?
- Do you boot a GENERIC or customized kernel ?
- What is the final message printed ?

Regards, STefan
