Did you try my .fonts.conf file? After I created that, all my font
problems disappeared.

I am unable to get to this site, but I do see this paragraph at
http://worldofends.com/. You can see a screenshot of Galeon 2 at
http://www.marcuscom.com/galeon2.png. As you can see, it looks fine.=20
The fonts I use in Galeon are:

Serif: Bitstream Vera Serif
Sans Serif: Verdana (from x11-fonts/webfonts)
Monospace: LucidaTypewriter

Variable size: 16
Mono size: 12
Minimum size: 12

Of course, I use the .fonts.conf I sent you as well to replace the
crummy Helvetica.

I have two active -STABLE machines running GNOME 2.2 (neither show the
problem you're describing), as well as one -STABLE machine running GNOME
1.4 (looks good there, too). I haven't tested my -CURRENT GNOME 2.2
machine. My two GNOME 2.2 machines use Mozilla 1.3b, of course. My
GNOME 1.4 machine uses 1.2.1. All have Xft support enabled.

Try ripping out all fonts except for the standard XFree86 fonts,
webfonts, and bitstream-vera. Make sure to run fc-cache -f -v when
you're done.
