I am trying to install version 2.1.5 for the first time
on a new P6 180Mhz.

I have a ps/2 mouse, and have read the faq on
adding:
device psm0 at isa? port "IO_KBD" conflicts with tty irq 12
vector psmintr

and

options PSM_NO_RESET

I have recompiled the kernel, and
added the device to /dev

However, I still can't start xwindows, because it can
not open The mouse driver...

any suggestions?
