I replaced the 3com 3c996B-T nics (bge driver) with Asante 1000TPC nics (nge
driver) and now nfs works just fine.

Apparently there is something wrong either with these 3com nics or with the
bge driver when using nfs under 4.6-STABLE (as of a cvsup and make world
this morning 7/1).
