To the FreeBSD programmers: I found a bug, that just crashes the box, no kernel panic so I didn't include a /var/crash/* file. I get lots of these error messages: kmem_malloc(4096): kmem_map too small: 1351231231 total allocated It's simple to test, with a command such as: mdmfs -i 256 -s 200m -M md /mnt cp -rp /usr/* /mnt # Filling it with lots of files Then your FreeBSD will crash after a few seconds/minutes. I've only tested this with FreeBSD 5.1. My uname -a output: FreeBSD neo.plex.no 5.1-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.1-RELEASE #0: Mon Aug 25 11:43:15 CEST 2003 root@neo.plex.no:/usr/src/sys/i386/compile/NEO i386 It's pretty much a GENERIC kernel, only a few unecessary drivers removed. However you should be able to replicate this crash easily. Thanks, could you keep me informed? Torbjorn Kristoffersen
