The problem can be > seen on my machine if you install/deinstall the deskutils/logjam > port. I've seen this on this box which has 700(!) or so packages installed at all times. Installing, say, a GNOME application can take more time to register the package than it does to build it[1] (I've seen five minute package registrations before). But since no one's provided a patch to fix things (hint, hint), I'm content to use the best (albeit slow) package management available. :) [1]: You can only imagine how long it took me to update to GNOME 2.10. ;) Best Regards, Christopher Nehren -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.0 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFCRxLYk/lo7zvzJioRAjwlAKCMucpAel1petqWeXu+4hEYCVlpiQCbBjqD zR7UChi80cJIOuK6WZp+8Z8= =pfRu -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- I abhor a system designed for the "user", if that word is a coded pejorative meaning "stupid and unsophisticated". -- Ken Thompson If you ask the wrong questions, you get answers like "42" and "God".
