Actually, it's less likely that this has anything to do with fast 
interrupts - I think a P200 has more than enough squirt to handle the 
interrupt load a 57600 and leave processing time open for kernel PPP.

Remember that these are interrupt-level buffer overflows (interrupt 
handler has delivered more data than the in-kernel consumer is 
accepting).
