Another datapoint: 

Dec  6 01:11:12 yedi /kernel: (ncr0:5:0): "EXABYTE EXB-8200 2687" type 1
removable SCSI 1

works fine on 2.0.5R. This particular firmware level was recomended
to me by someone from Exabyte. It's not the latest rev, but he
told me this was definitely the one to use.

Anyway, it works fine.
