Yes, the one is a MCP51, the other is a ICH8M. =20

The desktop is a Gigabyte N650SLI-DS4L.  Its symptom is hda losing interrup=
ts=20
after a period of time. =20

The laptop is a Acer 2920.  Its symptom for a GENERIC is a panic saying str=
ay=20
interrupt (irq7), with a custom kernel booting stalls. =20

The dmesg's are using a custom kernel with ``hint.hpet.0.clock=3D0'' set.  =
The=20
Acer also has apic and atrtc timers disabled (as per the advice to get C3=20
working). =20
