That strongly depends on the kind of hub/switch the card is connected to.
I found that the autonegotiation problems of the RealTek 8139 arise when
the hub or switch port is configured at 10 Mbps. Then, an explicit
"ifconfig rlN media 10baseT/UTP" is needed in many cases.
