Hello, I have several installation questions RE the Toshiba Portege 3010/3015 (same machine different model numbers). I have searched for answers on the PAO website/faq and the freebsd website, no luck. If however, these questions have already been asked answered , my aplogies and I'll accept flaming as the price of getting some answers :). I atttempting to install FreeBSD-3.2 on a Toshiba Portege 3010 (only modification is that I've added 64M of RAM for a total of 96M) using either a Panasonic KXL-D740 PCMCIA Drive (the PC card is a Qlogic FAS card) or a Megahertz 10BT PC Card. I'm using the PAO release 3.2 kern.flp and mfsroot.flp to boot and begin the install process. When I get to kernel config, I have 17 conflicts, most are easely resolved (uneeded drivers, etc) however I have to change the memory port for my Megahertz card to 0x3e2 in order to avoid conflicting with my built in sound card (Yamaha OPL3) and I get 2 pcic0 entries, only 1 of which is assigned IRQ 11 (no probelm delete the other) and 2 pcici1 entries (no IRQ assigned) I have used multiple combinations of driver deletions and have gotten the laptop to boot into sysinstall. At the PC Card Controller Screens I have excluded IRQ 5 (being used by sound card) and used the default memory space. Using VT2 I've observed FreeBSD recognizing my Megahertz card as sn0 and assigning IRQ3. My Panasonic/Qlogic SCSI card is NOT recognized, although the kerenl knows its inserted. I go into novice install, creat my slice and setup my partitions (No Problem :). When I go to install from a local ftp server, ftp won't work. IFCONFIG -A tells me that sn0 is up and running. When I try to ping my laptop from the ftp server (5 feet away) I get 100% packet loss. I'm STUCK and need help. I would like to transition to FreeBSD from Linux, however, if I can't get my hardware to work I will have to set aside FreeBSd and concentrate on Linux, due the greater amount of driver support (something I would prefer NOT to do) Thanks in advance and I will gladly accept being told I'm a goofball and missed something teribly obvious in return for getting my laptop up and running.
