The benefit of a setuid artswrapper is basically that you will get decent=20
audio playback even when your machine does more than light i/o (for example=
=20
untaring a distfile while building a port).

I won't revert this to the previous off by default because almost all users=
 of=20
KDE have "run with highest possible priority" set in the soundsystem option=
s=20
and "Why is music still skipping while I build a port?" is a FAQ.
