There is no shareware version. Nor is there a commercial version. It is
"FREE"BSD. You pay for the CDROM media, the book, and the shipping. You do
not pay for the software.

If you get it off the net, you do not pay one thin dime.

No matter how you get it, FreeBSD is a full featured unix operating
system.
