I prefer technical solutions to help it to fade into the background.

My procmail rule for saving FreeBSD list mail:

:0:
* ^Sender: owner-.*@freebsd.org
|/home/mph/.procmail/de-blurb.pl >> freebsd

And the Perl script it references:

#!/usr/bin/perl -n
print unless m/^To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo|^with .unsubscribe \S+. in the body of the message/;

Et voila, vanishing newbie info.
