maxusers also has effect on some other resource-limitation variables
(e.g.  network mbufs).  If you run out of fds, you might also have
problems with your mbufs. (?)
Changing "maxusers" is a nice way if you don't want to set everything
explicitely.

I recommend reading tuning(7), it's great.  (Thanks Matt!)
